How it works
- 1
Describe the need
In your own words: the outcome, the hours, the timezone overlap you need, and how you want to engage. A structured brief is drafted from it.
- 2
Approve the brief
You review and correct the must-haves, nice-to-haves, schedule and engagement type. Nothing is published or matched until you confirm it.
- 3
Receive a ranked shortlist
Candidates who fail a mandatory requirement are excluded outright rather than down-ranked. Each match shows why it ranked and what is missing.
- 4
Inspect the evidence
Open any Passport to see assessment results, the rubric version behind them, work samples with provenance, and the intro video.
- 5
Interview or run a paid trial
A short paid trial with a defined scope is usually a better predictor than another interview. We never ask talent to work unpaid on spec.
- 6
Engage with support behind it
Contracting, onboarding, check-ins and a replacement route if the fit is wrong.
What a brief captures
Outcome and role
The result you are hiring for, the role title, and the seniority with the evidence you expect at that level.
Requirements
Must-have skills with a minimum verified level, nice-to-haves, and any minimum assessment dimension or badge you require.
Schedule
Hours per week, the overlap window you need with your working day, and your start window.
Engagement
Paid trial, project, part-time, full-time or a team, which determines the contracting route.
Budget
A range, kept private by default. It shapes matching without being exposed to candidates.
Constraints
Industry knowledge, language, security or IP requirements, and anything that is genuinely non-negotiable.
Hard requirements stay hard
When you mark a requirement as mandatory, it filters rather than weights. A candidate who does not meet it is removed from your shortlist even if everything else about them looks like a strong match. Semantic similarity never overrides a stated minimum.
A self-declared skill never satisfies a requirement for a verified one. If a candidate claims a tool but has not evidenced it, it appears in the gaps list, not the reasons.
